My Painting Journey
Welcome to My Work in Progress! This page is a glimpse into my journey as I learn and grow in the world of painting. You’ll find completed works here that reflect my ongoing exploration of techniques, styles, and themes. Each piece represents a step forward in my artistic growth, even if they’re not always ‘perfect.’ I believe in showing the entire process—from initial sketches and color studies to the final painting. It’s a way to share my creative journey with you and to connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts. I hope you enjoy seeing my progress and feel inspired by my evolution as an artist.
Bear Skull Study:
The reference for this piece was a bear skull illuminated with a striking blue light. Using the Zorn palette—limited to just four colors: white, black, yellow ochre, and cadmium red—I created the blue by mixing with just black and white. This painting explores the unique challenges of working within the limitations of the Zorn palette.
Pigeon Study
These two paintings are some of my first. The one on the left is a pigeon, created using only burnt umber and Gamsol glazes to learn how to utilize burnt umber for underpainting. It features a warm burnt umber palette combined with the coolness of white, highlighting the versatility of pure burnt umber
Zorn Portrait Studies
These three portraits are my first three paintings completed with the Zorn pallette.
